ANNO REGNI VICESIMO QUARTO

Seſſ. 2.

VII. And be it further enacted, That every Diſtiller or Maker of Spirits for Home Conſumption, whether he be a Rectifier or not, ſhall, before he begin to draw off any Low Wines from the Waſh Still, charge the ſame with the Wort, Waſh, or other Liquor, on which the Duties aforeſaid ſhall have been rated, in the Proportion of not leſs than Three Parts in Four of the whole Quantity of Liquor which ſuch Still, including the Head, is capable of containing; and that every Diſtiller or Diſtillers for Exportation, ſhall, before he, ſhe, or they ſhall begin to draw off any Low Wines from their Waſh Still, charge the ſame with Waſh, in the Pro­portion of not leſs than Four Parts in Five of the whole Quantity of Liquor which ſuch Waſh Still, in­cluding the Head, is capable of containing; and that every Waſh Still ſhall be worked off within the Space of Twenty Hours, to be computed from the Time of the Officer's taking the Gauge of ſuch Still; and that every Diſtiller or Maker of Spirits who ſhall begin to draw off any Low Wines until the Waſh Still ſhall have been ſo charged as aforeſaid, or after having been ſo charged, ſhall not work the ſame off within the Time hereby limited, ſhall, in either of ſuch Caſes, forfeit and loſe the Sum of Two hundred Pounds.

VIII. And, for the better Prevention of Abuſes, or of Im­pediments to the Officer in taking an Account of the Diſtil­ler's Stock, be it further enacted, That all Low Wines whether made by Diſtillers entered for Home Conſumption or Exportation ſhall, within the Space of Twelve Hours after the ſame ſhall have been run off from the Waſh Still, be pumped or put into the Low Wine Still, and ſhall, within the Space of the next Twelve Hours, be drawn off into Spirits; and if any ſuch Low Wines ſhall be kept by any Diſtiller or Maker thereof, more than Twenty-four Hours after the ſame ſhall have been run off from the Waſh Still, every ſuch Diſtiller ſhall forfeit and pay the Sum of Ten Pounds by the Hour, for every Hour beyond the Time or Space hereby limited, during which any of ſuch Low Wines ſhall be kept or remain without being a Second Time diſtilled.
