LV. Provided always, and be it enacted by the Au-
thority aforeſaid, That upon all ſuch Rum and Spirits
imported into Great Britain, being of the Growth, Pro-
duction, and Manufacture of the Britiſh Sugar Iſlands
or Sugar Plantations in the Weſt Indies, as ſhall, on the
ſaid Firſt Day of September, One thouſand ſeven hun-
dred and eighty-four, remain under His Majeſty's Lock,
and in the Cuſtody of the Officers of Exciſe, for the
better Security of the Inland Duties which, before the
paſſing of this Act, would have been payable thereon, and
upon which Rum or Spirits the ſeveral Duties of
Cuſtoms ſhall have been paid, according to the Rates
and Duties ſet and impoſed thereon before the paſſing of
this Act, the ſeveral Inland Duties under the Manage-
ment of the Commiſſioners of Exciſe, which are by this
Act ſuſpended, ſhall be, and they are hereby remitted to
the Proprietors of ſuch Rum or Spirits reſpectively, and
they are hereby diſcharged from the Payment thereof;

and that the ſaid Commiſſioners of Exciſe ſhall, as ſoon
as conveniently may be, after the ſaid Firſt Day of Sep-
tember, One thouſand ſeven hundred and eighty-four,
certify to the ſaid Commiſſioners of the Cuſtoms the
Number of Gallons of ſuch Rum or Spirits which, on
the ſaid Firſt Day of September, One thouſand ſeven
hundred and eighty-four, ſo remained in the Cuſtody of
the Officers of Exciſe, and by whom the ſame was im-
ported, diſtinguiſhing the Quantity imported by each Per-

ſon; whereupon, and upon the Application of ſuch Im-
porters, the ſaid Commiſſioners of the Cuſtoms ſhall
cauſe to be repaid to ſuch Importers reſpectively, ſo much
of the ſaid Duties of Cuſtoms by them reſpectively paid
thereupon, as are by this Act ſuſpended.
