Laws but by being Matters in the Lords Books, for Such
& Such possessions

The Lord of the Isle by his Letters Patent from
the Crown of England, has not only the Soverainity
of the Island by Land, But he is also made Soveraign
Lord and Admirall of the Seas around the Island, in
in Consequence of the power all Ships and Vessels that
are within the Cricks of Mann, are Subject to his
Jurisdiction and none other, And the Lord has the
power of imposing what Customs or other Dutys he
pleases on Goods imported to, or exported from the
Island, but at present they are so very moderate that
they do not yeild to the Lord above fourteen hundred
pound yearly, notwithstanding that there are four ~~Sea~~
Sea port towns in the Island, that enjoy a very
considerable trade especially in Liquors &c. Spirits
of all kinds paying no more than a penny per Gallon
of Duty, and Wines and other Liquors only a half penny
per Gallon and the Dutys on all other commoditys
imported and exported is a meer trifle, as will appear
from the Book of Rates

There is also in this Island in many different places
the greatest appearance of Copper, Lead & Iron Mines
which have been intirely neglected by the late Lord
Derby, in indeed the whole Island was from the death
of his Son, which is rightly gone about, may turn out
to great account

The Genious of the Isle does abound with fishes
of all kinds especially Herrings of the very best kind
of which there are great Quantitys got yearly
