To the Kings Most Excellent Majesty

The Humble Memorial of the Keys of Man the Representatives
of the Inhabitants thereof

Humbly Sheweth

That for many ages and centuries past the Keys of Man have always
represented the grievances of the people of the said Isle, and composed the
third Estate of Legislature in the Enacting of Laws for the redress of the
Same —

That however obnoxious the Trade of this Isle might formerly
have been to any part of your Majestys Realm, yet your memorialists
would willingly hope, that from their chearfull and ready Submission
and obedience to the late Acts of Parliament relating their Trade
your Majesty out of your wonted goodness would be Graciously
pleased to consign to Oblivion every Idea of such our former proceedings
as were deemed prejudicially to your Majesties other Subjects, or any of them
and admitt your memorialists to your Majesties further protection and
favour. They presumeing further to declare that the whole community
within the Isle are Steadily fixed in unalterable Sentiments of Loyalty
and attachment to your Majesties Sacred person Family & Government
and a Religious conformity with the Established Church of England is
so permanent and general as to admitt of no exception

That since the dominion of this Isle became vested in your Majesty
and Successors in the year one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty five the
antient established custom and form of Government were in many particulars
altered and changed and especially in the mode of Enacting Laws for the use
and Government thereof

That Several temporary Laws made for the Good Government and Police [?]
of this Isle, such as the Law for making and Repairing the Publick
Highways, the Law for erecting Stone wall boundary fences, the Law for
Draining of Loughs and Stagnation of Waters, with many others of the
Publick Utility, have of late expired and the Good [illegible] [obscured]
voted to the introduced prejudice of the Inhabitants [obscured]
daily Inconveniencys and neither Detriments do [obscured]
