Case on the Statute of Queen Ann—

Whether the Islands of Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney and
Man are to be esteemed part of the Dominions of Great
Britain and Ireland, so as to subject the Masters and Seamen
Navigating Ships belonging to his Majestys Subjects there, to
the said Duty of Sixpence P^r mensem? The Clause empowering
the Receivers to appoint Deputies seeming not to extend to
those Islands.

I think the Islands mentioned in this Query are
included within the general Words of the Dominions
"belonging to Great Britain" and that the Masters
and Seamen, navigating Ships belonging to his
Majestys Subjects there are liable to the Duty of
Sixpence Per Mensem—
