his Journal, and which he gave to the Collector
of Whitehaven, than what is thereinmentioned;—
Saith, that in general he received his Information
of the Quantity and Quality of Goods landed from
Paul Brideson, an Officer under the Duke of

Minuted down;— Saith, that on the 5.^th of July,
about two in the Morning, a Cutter in the Service
of the Customs belonging either to Beaumaris, or
Leverpoole, (as he was informed) Anchord in
Douglas Bay, And about four of the Clock two
Men and Boats, carried on board the said Cutter
Eight large Casks, which he was informed containd
Brandy, And soon after, several Empty Anchors
were carried on board the said Cutter, to draw the Liquor
into
