To his Excellency John Wood Esq^r Governor of this Isle
The humble petition of Robert Christian Sen^r and
Robert Christian Jun^r both of Kk. Maughold but
now prisoners in Castle Rushen

Humbly Sheweth

That your petitioners Stand Confined in the s^d Castle
by Virtue of your Excellencys Order Dated the 26^th Apr:
Instant for Obstructing and Abusing his Majestys
officers of the Revenue in the Execution of their office
That your pet^rs about five Days ago happened
to be Standing a Distance of when one Robert Logan
and Some of the s^d officers had Some words but knows
not what Expressions was made use of your pet^rs
Can make to appear to your Excellency that they
never obstructed or Abused any of the s^d officers in
the Execution of their Duty but on the Contrary beged
and requested of the Croud to withdraw
Therefore your pett^rs most humbly pray your
Excellency would be graciously pleased to take
pett^rs Case into Consideration and to release
them from Confinement upon Giving in bonds
to Stand Tryal whenever thereunto required
And Shall Ever pray &c
