faithful Subjects, in the passing of
this indispensibly and Salutary
Act, and by a Constant succession
of trivial vexations and ill founded
Objections has hitherto found means
to prevent its obtaining the Royal
Assent – An Opposition tending
alike to the Diminution and
Injury of His Majesty's Government
within this Island, and the
Forfeiture of the priviledges and
Birth Right of the Inhabitants, as
a free people.

That this unconstitutional
Interference, and Opposition do not
arise from any peculiar Hardship
or Injury the Act imposes upon the
Duke, will evidently Appear, when it
is considered, that the whole landed
Property of his Grace within this
Island (which is the only property he
possesses liable to Assessment under
the present Act) cannot at the highest
be rated as equal to three Quarterlands,
and cannot therefore at the rate of Eight
Shillings
