Inhabitants The latter place having a very

thereby appears that Six companies of 70
privates each, making in the whole 420
Privates – (The original Establishment of
the Regiment in 1804) is barely adequate
to the duties of the Island with effect
and Safety.

With respect to the Expence, nature
and efficiency of a Fencible Corps. It is to
be observed that from the particular
constitution of the Island, there being no
power of billeting (and if such power did
exist the poverty of the Inkeepers and
Householders would render it nugatory) No
force but that raised like the present from
the population of the Island could
possibly be quartered – The present Regiment
