Your petit^r further Shews, that in or about the m[obscured]
of September last a certain cause in a matter of property
was tryed before the House of Keys, wherein the s^d M^r Jo[obscured]
Quayle Comp^r was the Def^t; and your petit^r after attend[obscured]
earnestly to the meritts of the said Cause, uninfluenced by
any thing but his conscience & his Judgment, gave his vote
together with many others, which made a Majority of the
House of Keys ag^st the said Def^t ——

That hereupon the said M^r John ~~Quayle~~ sometime
afterwards petitioned & proffered an appeal from the said
Judgment to his Grace the Lord of this Isle, Setting forth
amongst other frivolous pretences, that your present petitioner
had no right to sitt or vote in the s^d cause at that time,
