That by the peculiar Constitution of this Isle there always hath been a Distinction and
difference in Currency of Money from that of Great Britain and Ireland That the
Lords or Proprietors of this Isle from their Prerogative heretofore exercised a Right and so often as the
exigencies and necessities of the Island required did Coin and iſsue Copper Currency of Pence and
half pence for the use thereof which Coin was imprinted with the Arms of this Isle as a certain
distinction the proportion to paſs as such Coinage iſsued by Law enacted and Declared that
fourteen pence of such Currency shall be given in Exchange of an English Shilling and so in proportion
for the Exchange of any piece of English money of greater or leſser value — That payments in
all matters throughout this Isle are made according to the Standard of Manks Currency and that
by the antient Trust and Constitution thereof the Chief Rents accrewing to the Lord of the Mannor
[?] are ~~always~~ payable in manks value which with many other weighty Considerations
make it absolutely neceſsary and expedient to retain and continue the Standard and Insular Value
of Manks Currency And as no Coinage of Copper Currency has been made since the year one thousand
seven Hundred and Fifty Eight the same hath become extremely scarce which hath occasioned great
Numbers of Counterfeit Pence and Halfpence to be imported and a general Circulation of such Base
Coin and [?] hath taken effect through the neceſsity and scarcity of Lawful Copper Coin to the great
loſs and Injury of the several Inhabitants of this Isle — That under these Circumstances your
Memorialists request that your Honor would recommend to His Majesty this our application
and Petition that there be a new Coinage of Copper Currency or Money with the Arms of this
Island imprinted thereon not exceeding the value of Three Hundred Pounds in pence and One
Hundred and Fifty Pounds in Half pence and that the same may iſsue and paſs in all
payments and Exchange within this Isle at the Rate and Standard of fourteen pence for
one English Shilling and a Half pence in the like proportion consistent with the Laws of
this Isle and the utility and good thereof

Wherefore your Memorialists most humbly request your
Honor will be pleased to lay this their Memorial before His
Majesty that such Redress may be procured in the Matters
aforesaid as shall be found expedient and Conducive [to?] [the?]
Welfare and Prosperity of the People and In
