Propositions of Accomodation between the
Duke of Atholl, and the Legislature of the
Isle of Man.

The Duke of Atholl on his part, to proceed within
six months of this date to bring forward his objections
to the Bill of Assessment to a hearing before the Attorney
and Sollicitor General [above line: of England], and that his objections shall
go to the Principle, not to the penning of the foresaid
Bill – In default no further opposition to be given
by the Duke – If the Report should be against the
Bill, and another be brought forward, on three
months notice, the Duke will only oppose it before
the Legislative bodies of the Island.

The Duke will withdraw his Caveat against
the Bill transmitted for the Royal assent, for Restoring
the Appellate Jurisdiction of the House of Keys and
the Great Enquest.

The Duke Declares that with respect to the
Herring Custom, it is his intention to apply for a
Compensation from Great Britain, not for the
Restoration; for in his opinion the Fishing ought
to be Relieved from that burden, and some other
Fund be appropriated to the Harbours in lieu. And
the Duke [above line: offers to] suggest and give all the Support in his power to such
measures [above line: &] respecting the Carriages, the Dukes application
will be for a Compensation not for a continuance of them.
