To the Worsh^ll Peter John Heywood Esq^r Deemster
The Humble petition of Dan^l Laimster of Ramsay [?]...

Sheweth
That William Cashin of said town Boatman often obstructs
y^r pet^r in prosecuting his lawfull occasions by intimidating the people
going to sea with y^r pet^rs boat: And on saturday last the twenty fourth of May
as the people were launching his boat to go to sea, said Cashin came
threw many dangerous stones at them, whereby some were hurted in
their Arms & legs; others of them forced to run from the boat & lose the opportunity
of fully earning some money; without the least provocation on their part
left it be that they were going to sea with y^r pet^rs boat, and not with the
boat that said Cashin usually goes with. That y^r pet^r had no intention
to offend said Cashin, or any one else, by employing said people who were free &
not employ'd by any one, and not hired to him or any ~~one~~ other person
That y^r pet^r is greatly injured by such barbarous and uncommon behaviour
and by said Cashin, to ~~y^r~~ ~~pet^rs~~ the breach of the peace & y^r pet^rs detriment
as well as the hurt & loss of the people aforesaid And therefore prays

That y^r Worsh^p will please to grant, a speedy hearing of this matter,
to which said Cashin and y^r pet^rs evidences must appear, that when
y^r pet^rs complaint is fully proved against him before your worship
he may be fined & punished acording to law, & be obliged to give good
security for his peaceable conduct towards y^r pet^r and the people
going to sea with his boat afores^d And that y^r Worsh^p will please
to give to y^r pet^r & people afores^d such other relief in the premisses
as to y^r worship may seem meet. And y^r pet^r shall pray &c.

May 27^th 1765

I do appoint that the matter of this petition
to be heard before me to morrow whereof
all proper parties & persons have and
notice given this 27^th day of May 1765
