of this Doctrine would be that a Deemster
by his single Veto should have the power
of putting a negative upon the Proceedings
of a Legislative Body a power not possessed
or claimed by any other Individual in the
King's Dominions (or in the World I believe)
not being or representing the Sovereign —
The Doctrine is too absurd to deserve serious
refutation — In Short it is one of the Discoveries
of Modern times, which produceth Darkness
rather than light —
