To His Excellency John Wood Esquire —
Governor, Commander in Chief & Chancellor
of the Isle of Man

The Humble Petition of John Sayle, John
Kneene and John Wattleworth, of the
Town of Ramsey within the said Isle.

Showeth

That your pet^rs are owners of a small Fishing
Boat, Burden fifteen Tuns or thereabouts, which
Boat was lying at an anchor in Ramsey Bay on
the thirteenth of October last, & the same Day
was Seized by William Fairish, Commander
of a Boat or Barge, under Charles Lutwidge
Esquire His Majesty's Receiver General in
this Island, — and thereupon carried into Ramsey
Harbour for the use of his Majesty as it is
pretended —

That your pet^rs are advised & humbly conceive
that the said Seizure of the said Boat is
illegal and the said Fairish nor the said Charles
Lutwidge having not hitherto declared to
your pet^rs or any of them, in which of His
Majesty's Courts in Great Britain Ireland or
the Isle of Man they intend to apply for a
Condemnation of the said Boat so illegally
Seized and detained from the pet^rs —

your pet^rs therefore do humbly claim the
said Boat before your Excellency, as the
property of your pet^rs, notwithstanding the
said Illegal Seizure, with all Costs Damages
& Detriments that shall or may be occasioned
to your pet^rs thereby & prey that your Excellency
may admit your pet^rs said Claim accordingly
to avail at time and place proper and you[r] [obscured]
