To the Hon^ble John Wood Esq^r. Gov^r. of
this Isle —

The humble Petition of Joseph Corjeahan
Vic^r. of KK. Braddan —

Submissively Sheweth

That your Pet^r. ever Since his
Admission into the Ministry of the Church has made it
his Study both by Precept & Example to maintain & Set
forward Quietness peace & Love among his Parishon^rs.
Esteeming Such a Demean^r. a principal part of his
Ministerial Duty. Yet Notwithstanding it is with
the greatest Regret he is constraind to complain to your
Hon^r. of the injuries & abuses he continues to receive
from one Thomas Stole his Neighbour, who keeps
no less than 3 or 4 hunger Starvd Dogs prowling by
night & day ab^t. your Pet^rs. house & destroying the
Brood of Domestick Animals w^ch your Pet^r. might
rear about his house for the Sustenance of his
Family — And Whenever Complaint has been made to
S^d Stole of the Loss & injury your Pet^r. has from time
to time Sustained — he receives no other return but y^e.
most abusive, vilifying & provoking Invectives that
can be invented or utterd — finding all the gentlest
methods to no manner of purpose to restrain y^e. S^d. Stole
from Suffering his Dogs thus to ramble ab^t. & injure
your Pet^r. — Particularly on the 27^th Ult: being desird
by your Pet^r. to take care of his Dogs who had that
very morning destroyd a whole Nest where a fowl was
hatching & just a coming with her young brood,
he immediately challengd your Pet^r. to fight, fell a
Stripping himself, repeatedly calling your Pet^r. a Rogue
together with all y^e. opprobrious names & Appellations
he could utter, & drew up from his own ~~field~~ to y^e. Pet^rs.
Garden fence, of w^ch S^d. Stole took up a Stave in his
hand to assault & Strike your Pet^r. who was then in
his own Garden — Whereupon your Pet^r. having a hen
then in his hand, in Search of y^e S^d. dogs who were

then [obscured]
