At Edinburgh the twenty fourth day of May One
thousand seven hundred and sixty five years In presence
of James Balfour Esquire Sheriff substitute of the County
of Edinburgh

Appeared Alexander Wood Steward or Factor to Thomas Earl of
Kinnoul in a part of his Lordships Estate lying in the county of Perth
And maketh oath that he has been Factor to the said Earl, and the
late George Earl of Kinnoul his Lordships father for these fifteen
years past that in the Course of transacting Business in the Neigh=
bourhood he has had occasion to know the Condition of the Lands and
Estates belonging to John Duke of Athol whereof the Rentals are
ingrossed in the first eleven preceeding pages And that he has examin=
ed the said Rentals, and in his opinion and Judgement the said Lands
and Estates are sett at moderate Rents And it is also the Deponents
opinion and Judgement that the Lands and Estates, whereof the Ren=
tals are prefixed are worth and would sell one with another at the
several Number of years purchase mentioned in the Estimate here
prefixed amounting the total Prices to seventy thousand and twenty
eight pounds eleven shillings two pence sterling And that he has
known Lands and Estates lying in the Neighbourhood of the Estates
which compose the foregoing Rentals, and of no better quality or
more capable of Improvement, sold at as high, and even higher
prices than those sett down in the foregoing Estimate And the De=
ponent is of opinion that if the said Estates were sold to him, or to any
other person at the said Prices to which they are estimated the pur=
chaser would have a very profitable Bargain
